Celebrating Healthcare Quality Week

How GlyCare Commits to Doing No Harm

By Jennifer Peterson, DNP, APRN, LMT, FNP-BC

Healthcare Quality Week is a time to recognize the progress made by healthcare professionals towards the improvement of patient outcomes and to prepare for challenges that have yet to arise. Healthcare quality week is sponsored by the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), an organization that also utilizes the week to bring attention to the profession of healthcare quality. This week I would like to recognize the GlyCare team for their unwavering dedication to high-quality diabetes care.

Patient safety is a driving factor of healthcare quality and the basis of patient safety is to do no harm; therefore, high-quality care equals zero patient harm. In an effort to reduce patient harm thereby improving healthcare quality, safety should be moved from a reactive to a proactive priority. From the beginning, GlyCare’s foundation has been a proactive approach rather than a reactive approach to diabetes management. GlyCare does not want to “put fires out”, rather we believe in preventing the fires in the first place. This is achieved via the consistent application of evidence-based, safe, conservative algorithms in combination with patient-centered care which, to date, has successfully resulted in zero harm events across the entirety of the company. Congratulations to the GlyCare team for providing high-quality care!
